Candace convinces Forty to purchase the film rights and develop the screenplay for Beck’s book. Eventually, he relinquishes Will’s stolen identity and releases him-making Will the first to actually survive being kidnapped by Joe. This season we see him actually befriend the captive Will Bettleheim. Though Joe no longer works in Mooney’s bookstore, he’s taken the box with him and set it up in a storage unit in L.A. It has been an ill omen for all who have come across it: Just think of Benji, Beck, and Jasper, who didn’t even have to go inside to meet a bloody demise at Joe’s hands.
